Look at the latch and keeper
Check visually whether the latch meets the keeper when the panel is fully closed. A panel that sits low or does not close squarely can prevent a working latch from engaging. Do not force the handle to overcome the mismatch.
Record what the handle does
Note whether the handle is loose, the latch fails to move or the latch moves but misses the keeper. Photograph both handles, the edge mechanism and the frame keeper. Those details help identify compatible hardware.
Avoid a guess-based lock swap
Replacing the handle alone may leave an alignment fault unresolved. Ask whether the proposed work includes checking panel movement and secure engagement. If the opening cannot be secured, contact us promptly to discuss availability without assuming a guaranteed emergency visit.
The guidance here is general. Your door manufacturer’s instructions and an assessment of the actual system take precedence.
